Simple past tense
Simple past tense adalah kalimat yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu kejadian yang terjadi di masa lampau dan selesai atau berakhir di masa lampau juga.
RUMUS:
(+) Subject + verb 2 + complement
(-) Subject + did + not + verb 1
(?) Did + subject + verb 1
terdapat dua jenis verb yang digunakan dalam simple past tense, yaitu regular verb yang artinya kata kerja beraturan, dan irregular verb yang artinya kata kerja tidak beraturan.
Regular Verb
Pada verb ini, setiap kata kerja selalu ditambahkan akhiran -ed, -d atau -ied setelah kata kerja dasar atau kata kerja bentuk pertama. Namun, kamu perlu perhatikan beberapa aturan ini ya!
- Jika kata kerjanya berakhiran -e, tambahkan saja -d. contoh: move menjadi moved.
- Jika kata kerjanya berakhiran konsonan, tambahkan saja -ed. Contoh:
dump menjadi dumped. - Untuk kata kerja yang berakhiran -y, -y biasanya berubah menjadi –i jika mengikuti konsonan, lalu tambahkan -ed. Contoh: cry menjadi cried.

Irregular verb
Sesuai dengan artinya, yaitu kata kerja tidak beraturan, maka verb ini berubah dari bentuk kata kerja pertama. Namun, irregular verb pun terbagi menjadi 3 jenis. Kamu dapat membedakannya
dengan melihat tabel ini:
- Verb 1, verb 2, dan verb 3 bentuknya tidak sama
- Verb 2 dan verb 3 tidak berubah dari verb 1, dan pada akhir kata tidak ditambahkan apapun
- Verb 2 dan verb 3 bentuknya sama namun berbeda dengan verb 1

Example:
